Through the Connecticut Music Educators Association, our music department is able to offer extra experiences for high level music students in band, chorus, and strings.
Elementary Honors Ensemble - open to 6th grade students Teachers have the opportuity to select outstanding 6th grade musicians to participate in an extracurricular field trip workshop & concert at the University of Bridgeport at the end of February (also involves 5th grade students from elementary schools). Participation in this experience requires extra practice time at home to be prepared for the concert, ASA time is also utilized in the school day.
Southern Region Middle School Festival - open to 6th, 7th, and 8th grade students. Interested students spend extra practice time getting ready for an audition that takes place in December. If they are accepted, they can then participate in a field trip and festival with other musicians in surrounding towns.
