This page is a collection of our stories. Stories of the people who have passed, who still live here today and who have seen tremendous changes to the land we live, learn, work and play on. These stories are just the beginning of a collection we hope to add to and grow as we learn more about this local place - Te Raki Paewhenua and all the stories it holds.
The Sunnynook Stories Project began in March 2016. The objective was to gather, publish and celebrate as many stories as we could from the founding residents of the suburb about the early days of Sunnynook as it developed from a rural landscape to an urban space.
The Sunnynook Stories Project is an opportunity for people to share their memories, to record and document some local history and to keep these as a resource of valuable information for future generations of Sunnynook.
There are many stories missing from this book. If you have any thing you wish to contribute, it is never too late. Please contact the Sunnynook Community Centre so your stories can be collected and we can treasure them.
