Le Thuy Duong Nguyen

Hi! I’m Thuy, a graduate student at McGill University, co-supervised by Prof. Matthew G. Perich. My research leverages machine learning to understand intelligent behaviour in health and disease, with the goal of developing translational clinical applications in neuroscience.

During my undergraduate studies, I worked on projects investigating the emergence of reciprocal prosocial behaviour in reinforcement learning agents, inspired by traditional Indigenous cultural concepts. I also worked under the supervision of Prof. Sylvain Baillet on an open science project aimed at lowering barriers for the neuroimaging community. Beyond academia, I participated in several entrepreneurship programs after completing the AI4Good Lab, where my team received the Accelerator Award for our project, unbIAsed.Rx.

I currently lead the Neural-AI Reading Group and started a World Models Reading Group alongside fellow Mila students. I actively advocate for open science through the Tanenbaum Open Science Institute (TOSI) Trainee Council and have contributed to various community-building initiatives.

Outside of work, I enjoy strength training, cycling, baking, and dancing!
