While birth work is my heart and soul, there's so much more to my story that shapes who I am as a birth worker and person. When I'm not supporting clients or buried in midwifery textbooks (which, let's be honest, is a lot of the time!), my life is a beautiful mix of community activism, traveling, and random hobbies.
My passion for reproductive justice runs deep. In 2024, I felt called to expand my practice and began serving clients as an abortion doula. It is a sacred privilege to provide compassionate support through all the varied paths and outcomes of pregnancy. This transformative year has deepened my commitment to activism and community service. I am proud to serve as a founding board member of the nonprofit orphanage One Love Casa Hogar, organize as a CODEPINK Coachella Valley chapter leader, volunteer with Californians for Choice, provide abortion doula services at Planned Parenthood, and participate on the organizing committee of the Coachella Valley People's March.
Between studying, births, and community service, you'll probably find me hosting way too competitive game nights with my family and friends, attempting to crochet (emphasis on attempting!), or planning my next travel adventure! I'm also the proud "DooDoo" (short for MaDoula, a nickname given to me after supporting my brother and sister-in-law through their first birth) to two precious little boys who keep me on my toes and fill my heart with so much joy.
Whether I'm planning my next adventure, getting fired up about community organizing, or supporting people through their reproductive journeys, I pour my whole heart into everything I do. I guess that's the thing about life beyond midwifery; it's not really "beyond" at all. It's all connected, weaving together to make me the human I am today.
