The vision of Midwest Biological Survey is through the use of various methods, including natural surveys, taxonomic and ecological research, to reach the next generation of ecologists by creating an organization supporting botanical, ecological, and biological experience and expertise.
Nathanael has nine years of experience in botanical research and plant identification, understands hands-on resource management, and is proficient in project management. Nathanael has led plant identification workshops, hikes, and frequently presents to the public in a variety of settings.
His skills include, but are not limited to, conducting vegetation surveys, developing ecological management plans, compiling floristic inventories, conducting wetland delineations, and monitoring rare, threatened, and endangered plant species. Nathanael has years of habitat management experience that include applied techniques in invasive species control and revegetation, prescribed fire application, vegetation surveys, prescribed fire management, greenhouse and nursery management, plant installation, seed mix design and rare plant monitoring.
He has trained and led restoration crews, interns, and volunteers in wetland restoration practices, and actively engages in environmental outreach and stewardship.
Nathanael is an active public speaker and nature enthusiast. His written work has appeared in peer-reviewed journals including Great Lakes Botanist Journal and Proceedings of the Indiana Academy of Science.
