Responsive Services
includes the support from the counselor when a student or small group is in crisis. This can be in collaboration with teachers or family members to meet the needs of the student.
Individual Planning
Entails working with students as well as a team of professionals, including administration, behavior specialist, and teachers, to develop a plan to help the student grow socially, emotionally, and academically.
System Support
At Midway, system support means participating with a wide range of committee as stakeholders of interest for the students.
Counseling Curriculum
follows the Missouri Grade Level Expectations (GLE) as well as the American School Counseling Association (ASCA) mindsets and standards.
Throughout the year the school counselor will teach a monthly lesson that fall under the categories of social emotional, academic, and career development.

Counseling Curriculum
To the left is a DESE counseling curriculum units that school counselors will use to teach their monthly lessons. The unit included is over Social/Emotional Development. The units in Social/Emotional Development are designed to assist students in developing the knowledge and skills to be productive and respectful citizens in a global society.
Other comprehensive counseling lessons that are integrated into the educational experience are:
Academic Development: study skills, goal setting, pre-employment skills, job preparation, post-secondary decision making.
Career Development: career awareness and career exploration.
Social/Emotional Development: self-concept, conflict resolution, personal responsibilities, peer friendship, decision-making skills, substance abuse prevention, cross-cultural understandings.
