Students in the full-time virtual pathway will experience 100% of their learning online and will choose all of their courses from the list of Virtual Courses offered. All of the online courses are facilitated by Texas-certified teachers. The courses offered are asynchronous, but many have synchronous sessions once a week, delivered by the virtual teacher. Students are expected to log in to the virtual platform daily. This pathway is perfect for self-motivated students who thrive with independence and flexibility. Middle school students will take 7 courses each semester, and high school students will take 8 courses each semester.
Students in this pathway will experience four or more of their courses learning online and the remainder of their courses can be face-to-face at their zoned Midway campus. Students will choose core courses from the list of Virtual Courses offered above and elective courses based on their desired elective or graduation pathway. All of the online courses are facilitated by Texas-certified teachers, and the face-to-face courses are taught by Midway teachers. The online courses offered are asynchronous, but many have synchronous sessions once a week, delivered by the virtual teacher. Students are expected to log in to the virtual platform daily. Students are expected to attend their face-to-face class daily. Students must provide their own transportation to and from campus. We will do our very best to schedule face-to-face courses back-to-back. This pathway is perfect for self-motivated students who want to participate in select school activities while still needing flexibility in their schedules. Middle school students will take 7 courses each semester, and high school students will take 8 courses each semester.
Students may elect to sign up for à la carte courses to supplement their full-time face-to-face education. Students from Midway and from other school districts or home schools are eligible for this option. Students pay a fee for courses offered through the a la carte pathway.
