CLASS OVERVIEW
4th Grade
In 4th grade math, we will be utilizing a new curriculum this year from HMHed called Into Math. Our learning topics will be place value, multiplication strategies, division, fractions and decimals, two- dimensional figures and symmetry in geometry, and measurement, data, and time!
English in 4th grade will cover topics such as informational text, literature, main idea, poetry, author's purpose, text structure, and grammar. We will also be reading numerous chapter books throughout the year. Students are encouraged to read for at least 15 minutes each night.
5th Grade
In 5th grade math, we will be utilizing a new curriculum this year from HMHed called Into Math. Our learning topics will cover expressions, fractions and mixed numbers, conversions of metric and customary units, extensions of multiplication and division, decimals, graphs, and geometry.
English in 5th grade will cover informational text, literature, summarizing and finding main idea, compare and contrast, theme, sequencing, point of view, and grammar. We will also be reading numerous chapter books and completing book studies this year! Students are encouraged to read for at least 15 minutes each night.
About me
Hello! My name is Marley Hoffman and I will be your child's 4th and 5th grade Math and English teacher this year. I am so excited to work with you and your student this year! I am originally from Gibsonia, PA, but I am now living in Robinson, PA. I graduated with my bachelor's degree in Middle Level Education with a concentration in mathematics and a minor in Special Education from Slippery Rock University.
