The high school band participated in an interview with the Grant Wood Media person, Jake, about the marching band season.

On April 6th and 13th 6 (7-12) Midland band students attended the Coe College Junior and Senior Honor Bands, along with 4 (5th and 6th) students who attended the Elementary Honor Bands on April 12th. These honor bands are unique as a world-renown composer comes and rehearses their own pieces with these bands. This year's composer was Patrick Roszell.
On April 12th 2025, Midland's high school band and choir students participated at the IHSMA solo and ensemble contest. The band students received 6 III (good) ratings, 3 II (excellent) ratings, and one I (superior) rating. The ratings are just numbers, however, that can't possibly explain how beneficial events like these can be for our students who had put in countless hours preparing these pieces.
On March 8th four of our 7/8 grade band students attended the Tri-State Honor Band in Decorah. This honor band gave students the opportunity to play with talented 7/8 student musicians from Minnesota and Wisconsin along with Iowa.
Eight of our high school students attended Dorian Band Festival March 2nd and 3rd. It was a great time for bonding along with the benefit of playing more difficult music and with other students who are interested in band from around the Decorah area.
On February 26th the 7/8 band attended Large Group Festival at Lisbon High School. They did an amazing job and got some amazing feedback from a teacher who used to teach at Midland himself. It was the first time Midland's 7/8 grade band had attended a large group festival in 38 years!
On Saturday January 18th, Midland was represented at the Marion Honor Band by two of our 7/8 students. This is a great honor and opportunity to play with talented musicians from around the area.
On Monday January 13th, five high school band students attended the Tri-Rivers Conference Honor Band at Maquoketa Valley High School. This is a great honor and opportunity to play with talented musicians from schools similar to ours.
On Sunday December 8th all of the Midland Bands and Choirs performed our Christmas City concert. The students worked hard all semester to prepare the music they performed.
On Saturday December 7th, three students from Midland Bands attended the Northeast Iowa Bandmasters Association Honor Band. This honor band involves talented students from many schools (including the big 4A/5A schools) in our corner of the state, and it is a great achievement to be accepted.
On Thursday October 24, ten students from the Midland Middle School 7/8 Band attended the Tri Rivers Conference Honor Band. It is a great achievement to be accepted into honor band, and a great opportunity to play more music and meet other band students from schools around the area.
On Tuesday October 22, four students from Midland Middle School attended the St Ambrose Honor Band. It is a great achievement to be accepted into honor band, and a great opportunity to play more advanced music with other students from around the state.
