Midland Band Overview
At Midland our band program has been steadily growing in the last few years. As of fall 2026, we have 12 students in high school band, 28 in 7/8 band, 23 in 6th grade band, and 21 in 5th grade band. We have been getting more active in the community by playing at sporting events, marching in the homecoming parade, caroling at Christmas City, and playing at Jones Regional Hospital.
The instruments available to play in band are flute, oboe, bassoon, clarinet, bass clarinet, alto tenor and baritone saxophone, trumpet, french horn, trombone, baritone, euphonium, tuba, percussion (percussion include all the drums, mallets, and extra equipment such as triangle and tambourine)
We are currently in the process of raising money to buy marching band uniforms. This is the design we have created. Contact the music boosters at musicboosters@midland.k12.ia.us for information on how to help.
My name is Ms Jaklyn (Jackie) Lamphier and I teach 5-12 band and 4-5 general music at Midland. I went to grade school at Center Point-Urbana. I graduated from Drake University in December 2023 with my bachelor of music education, and substitute taught around the Cedar Rapids area spring of 2024. 2026-2027 is my third year getting to help support the Midland bands.
