Behind the theory
The constructivist theory in education focuses on a learner centered approach where students take responsibility for their own learning by building upon prior knowledge in order to become an active participant in the classroom.
Students are introduced to a specific learning objective, provided the tools to understand, analyze, and apply that knowledge towards future learning experiences under the constructivist theory (ȘTEFAN, M. A, 2017).
Each and every learning experience under this theory can be identified as a motivation factor for student growth and development within a specific subject area.

- Students learn through hands on application discovering principles and mastery of targeted learning objectives independently through project-based learning.
- Students are assisting others, working with others, and communicating ideas with their peers which demonstrates a cognitive apprenticeship in the classroom.
- Projects have been developed in a spiralized manner, where students continually build upon what they have already learned.
- Scaffolding materials to assist students in the interpretation and resolution of learning problems (Constructivist Theory (Jerome Bruner), n.d.).
