Like most of our journeys, this one started with high hopes and little time. About a month ago, I asked Youness what his thoughts were on running a marathon. With his devious smile, he showed me his bucket list for 2021, and "marathon" had yet to be checked off. We agreed to run one before the semester ended.
Let me preface this with, neither of us are runners. We looked up the amount of time needed to train for a marathon and everything we found said we'd need at least 16 weeks of preparation with an average of 30-50 miles per week. Let's just say, we've clocked 10 runs over the past month. Are we underprepared? Probably. Are we hype? Duh. Knowing the odds would not be on our side physically, we started recruiting friends who would want to run parts of it with us, because mentally they would be a godsend. About 2.5 weeks before the marathon, Youness called me to say that we could run for a nonprofit. The rest, is history.
