For Dr. Netta Avineri's plenary, please bring a copy of a recent Projects for Peace proposal and a final report (they don’t need to be for the same project) from your institution, ideally by a student whom you know. You will not be required to share these materials with others.
Dr. Anu Taranath, author of Beyond Guilt Trips: Mindful Travel in an Unequal World is now confirmed as keynote speaker! As a University of Washington Teaching Professor for the past 20 years and a racial equity consultant, Dr. Anu deepens conversations on diversity, social justice and global consciousness. She teaches about contemporary world and multi-ethnic literatures; colonial and postcolonial literatures and theory; and transnational feminist and cultural studies. A four-time member of Humanities Washington Speakers Bureau, she has also received the Seattle Weekly’s “Best of Seattle” recognition, the UW’s Distinguished Teaching Award, and multiple US Fulbright Fellowships to work abroad. We kindly ask that you refrain from wearing fragranced body products, including colognes, perfumes, body lotions, and other similar products during the event, in order to support attendees with fragrance sensitivities.
Our convening theme of Place, Connection, Reflection is an invitation to consider how we -- and our grantees -- engage with the communities we care about.
This event is an opportunity to:
meet your colleagues,
share programmatic ideas and insights,
find inspiration for your Projects for Peace program, and
explore the intersection of youth peacebuilding and conflict transformation.
Rooms have been reserved at the Hotel Pacific, a short walk from M.I.I.S.
