Various resources and opportunities available in Michigan for postsecondary students.
Beware of any scams/false opportunities. Ensure to research the opportunity and funder prior to applying, if needed.
The pages listed on the left side are different places and resources that house many scholarship opportunities of theirs or of their partners, etc.
General things to note:
Application dates have been listed below the linked opportunities.
Many scholarships -- especially those through community foundations, community college foundations, and certain sites -- open and close on the same day or in the same month every year.
If opportunities have already closed, you can check the next year on the day that it opened, check a bit earlier than that day, or contact staff about an expected opening and closing date for the next year.
In general, only scholarships specifically stating that they are for financial need or require applicants to "demonstrate financial need" specifically will need a FAFSA form.
This requirement would be clearly outlined in the scholarship requirements/eligibility and in the popular/frequent asked questions (FAQ) section.
The dropdown menus below share more information on what information/resources each category contains.
When applying to community foundation scholarships, it is important to refer to their "Frequently Asked Questions" section as they often contain questions to eligibility and more. There is staff available to help with scholarship questions, etc.
Some also offer scholarship workshops for those looking to apply to educate students about scholarship opportunities offered by the foundation or other organizations. These workshops typically provide guidance on finding scholarships, understanding application requirements, and crafting compelling applications.
Some foundations also offer some type of funding for life needs outside of school that pose as real barriers to earning higher education.
Community college foundation scholarships are financial awards offered by a college's foundation.
Because some scholarships are funded by individual donors, college foundations may require the recipient to write a "thank you" note to the donor.
Some institutions also offer scholarship workshops for those looking to apply to educate students about scholarship opportunities offered by the foundation or other organizations. These workshops typically provide guidance on finding scholarships, understanding application requirements, and crafting compelling applications.
