Okra is an Angiosperm, and is further identified as a Euidcot.
Okra has always been a staple in the kitchen, and one of my favorite dishes! We also grow our own okra in our garden, and use that to cook. I remember learning to chop okra into perfectly sized slices from a young age, and now, love to cook it just like my family.
Okra orginated in South Asia or North Africa, but is now a domesticated crop grown in many places. It grows well in Missouri in the summer, but is not native.
Okra seeds can be roasted and ground
Rich in fiber and antioxidants
Okra flowers are pretty too!
