Marigold (Tagetes), Tagetes comes form Tages, a mythological deity which represents the plant's cultureal significance.
Marigolds are angiospersms, and are in the Asteraceae family!
For my family, marigolds have been a necessity in our traditions and celebrations. They are a staple used in poojas (prayers), where we decorate our prayer stands. Their vibrant colors decorate our house during Diwali and Navrati, and are often also used to make garlands for wedding and other celebrations!
