In this course, students refined their skills in observational drawing and painting, making purposeful choices about lines, form, and color. Students experimented with materials as they learned to make decisive lines and cohesive color palettes and apply both realistic and expressive colors to their pieces. The use of art exemplars emphasized the incredible diversity of styles and expressiveness that can be achieved with color, line, and texture.
Hi everyone, my name is Geraldine Butler and I am a painter. I primarily work abstractly now, but have a long history of working from observation. I attended the Baltimore School for the Arts where I now teach painting, and also graduated from MICA with a degree in Painting. While at MICA, I studied abroad in Aix-en-Provence, France and loved it so much I seriously considered staying!
Another fun fact about me is that I was born and raised in Spain!
