“Oftentimes when you hear "Horror" your mind instantly thinks of blood and gore. However I see horror past that. Horror explores intense feelings of fear, shock and disgust. Horror makes people uncomfortable and I want to use those feelings to explore metal health.
Something that is fiction is a lot less scary than something that is reality. Psychological horror usually leaves a longer lasting impact on a viewer because it's terrifying that something like this can in fact exist in our reality. This genre is used to evoke intense emotions in the audience.
This is what made me feel so drawn to this genre.
I want to use horror to help visualize how people struggling with their mental health view the world around them. I think we as a society downplay the severity of mental illness and how it affects the lives of people suffering from these illnesses. The media often romanticizes mental health conditions or demonizes them.
My goal is to change through my artwork.”
I won the "Master of Craft" award for Film & New media at my Apex Arts graduation. (I definingly did NOT cry when I got it).
Some artist who inspire my work are David Firth, Tim Burton, Wes Anderson, Christopher Nolan, Henry Selick and Becky Solan! My dream job is to become a film director, I would love to work on both live action and animated movies.
I was accepted into the Apex Arts program at Annapolis High School. The prime I chose was Film & New Media. Being apart of this program was intense but it helped not only grow my love for art but also helped me find my voice as an artist.
