SPRING 2026

MICA’s Residence Halls will close at 12:00 PM (noon) on Tuesday, May 19, 2026 for all Undergraduate Seniors & Graduate students particiating in Commencement.
All residents are expected to fully depart from their assigned rooms before this time. Students who remain on campus beyond the closing deadline without prior approval will be charged an improper checkout fee and may incur additional charges for extended occupancy. Don't forget to return your keys and complete the departure form before you leave!
Students who have completed their Contract Extension & Summer Housing Application by the deadline will recieve an email on Monday, May 4, 2026 as confirmation of their summer housing or contract extension details. If you recieve a confirmaiton email, you do not need ot be moved out of your room until noon on the last day specified in your confirmation email.
Students who need to depart after 12:00pm should load their items into a moving cart and report to the lobby of their residence halls (Latrobe House for Spear Hall and Carter Hall residents) to wait on their rides.
As students prepare for their final projects and exams, we are entering 24-Hour Quiet Hours. 24 Hour Quiet Hours will be in effect beginning Sunday, May 3, 2026 and will remain in effect for the remainder of the Spring 2026 semester. This is a great, peaceful way to provide care for the greater community during a time that can be stressful. Any violations of the End of Semester Quiet Hour Policy will be documented and referred to the Student Conduct Process.
Please find the Departure Checklist below. Ensure that you are speaking with your apartment-mates now in order to divide the responsibilities for preparing your apartment for inspection. Please check in with your RA or RC if you have any questions or concerns. A copy of the checklist will also be placed on your apartment’s front door!
Make sure to complete the change of address form, available online at www.usps.com and make sure all of your packages go to your permanent address! If you do not change your address, all of your mail and packages will go back to its sender via Postal and Print.
Clean your room completely.
Carts are available at each front desk for you to utilize when moving out. Please be mindful of your fellow community members who are also utilizing this resource - extended use of the cart will limit how many of your peers can use this resource.
Students are permitted to have guests assist them with their move out beginning Monday, May 4, 2026. Feel free to bring as much help as you think you will need! Just make sure your guest checks in with Campus Safety and plan in advance. All guests must have a valid government issued identification card. As a reminder, students are responsible for their guests while signed into the residence hall. For the safety of our residential communities, guests, including families, are not to be left in your apartment when you are not present.
Beginning May 4, there will be a key drop box in the lobbies of The Gateway, Meyerhoff House, Leake Hall, and Latrobe House. There will also be a drop box in the Office of Residence Life on the 2nd floor of Latrobe House (entrance to Founders Green). With each drop box will be a stack of envelopes for residents to place their keys in. On the envelope, you will fill out the information below and place your room and mail keys inside, and sign and seal the envelope.
Details to Fill out on the Key Return Envelope:
First Name, Last Name
MICA ID
Building
Room # (ex: 101)
Room Letter (A,B,C,D)
Signature & Date
Potential Costs Associated with Keys:
If your apartment key is not returned you will be charged a replacement fee up to $250.00.
If your mail key is not returned you will be charged a replacement fee up to $25.00.
Before you drop your keys in the box, locate the QR code on your key envelope. Scan the QR code and complete the appropriate form to confirm that you have checked out of your room.
The Office of Residence Life Staff will enter all units to complete a final inspection once all students have departed on May 11th. Please double check and make sure everything is clean! If you are found responsible for damages, you will be notified via email by May 31st and your student account will be updated by the Office of Student Accounts.
All check-outs will utilize the Express Check-out Method; there will not be a process for appeals of any room damages found in the units. We suggest that you make notes of any damages, place any work orders, and plan with your apartment-mates regarding the cleaning process. We wouldn’t want students to be responsible for something you did not do!
We hope that you have a successful end to the academic year. Our office is open during regular business hours if you have questions. Can't make it to the office to see us in person? Send us an email at residencelife@mica.edu!
We look forward to continuing to support you through this semester and we wish you the best in your future endeavors!
