Show Competency by completing ONE of the following options:
MAIN: Earn a competency score - EOCE
Earn a raw score of 684 in the Algebra and ELA II End of Course Exams/Ohio State Test.
Students who do not achieve this score will be offered support and must retake the state test at least once.
**Students who have not earned a competency score after re-taking the EOCE exams have the following options:
ALTERNATE: College Credit Plus
Earn college credit for one non remedial Math and/or English course (for the subject area not passed) to demonstrate competency.
ALTERNATE: Military Readiness
Provide evidence (DD Form 4) that a student has enlisted in a branch of the U.S. Armed Forces.
ALTERNATE: Industry Credential
Complete TWO demonstrations, at least one must be foundational.
Foundational Options
Earn a score of proficient or higher on 3 or more WebXams in a single career pathway;
FUTURE READY class/RISE UP PROGRAM: Earn a 12-pt industry credential or a group of credentials totaling 12 pts in a single career field; or
PRE-APPRENTICESHIP class: Complete a pre-apprenticeship or show evidence of acceptance into an apprenticeship program after high school
Supporting Options
Complete a 250 hour work-based learning experience with positive evaluations;
Earn the workforce readiness score on WorkKeys; or
Earn the Ohio Means Jobs Readiness Seal
ALTERNATE: ACT/SAT
Obtain a remediation-free score in the Math or English subject areas on the ACT or SAT.
To demonstrate competency in English II, a student must be remediation-free in BOTH English and Reading on the ACT.
Earn remediation-free scores on the ACT or the SAT.
ACT: English 18, Reading 22, Mathematics 22
