Through my experience as an undergraduate research assistant, I’ve built strong skills in career and self-development, communication, and critical thinking. My work on protein binding sites and drug design has deepened my understanding of how common medications function and has improved my ability to analyze scientific literature. Both of these are skills that will be invaluable as a future physician. I’ve also learned to communicate complex research findings in a clear and accessible way to those without a scientific background. Most importantly, research has challenged me to think critically and creatively, especially when experiments didn’t go as planned, pushing me to explore new solutions.
