ESRI Software installations for individual office/student computers
All ESRI software is accessed via an individual's Miami log-in credentials.
If the individual has administrative privileges to download and install software on their own machine, they should follow the instructions on this page:
ESRI Software (ArcPro, ArcGIS Online)
If the individual does not have administrative privileges to install software, then IT personnel will need to install the most recent version of
the software on the machine(s).
After installation, the computer user should following the instructions on this page to log into the software: ESRI Software (ArcPro, ArcGIS Online)
ESRI Software installations for lab computers
All ESRI software is now based on named-user log-ins and local installs. We no longer host a university site-wide license.
When ArcGIS Pro (ArcPro) needs to be installed in a computer lab, please contact the GIS Coordinator, Robbyn Abbitt (abbittrj@miamioh.edu) to request the
most current installation file.
This file can be added to a lab image.
All updates and patches must be managed locally for each computer.
Installing Patches between Versions
ArcGIS Pro has regular updates and patches that are needed between significant releases.
Once launched, the user will be able to see the update/patch status in the upper right corner of the software.
Typically, updates/patches require an administrative log-in and cannot be run by the non-administrative local user.
If a software update is needed, an IT or University staff member with administrative privileges must be contacted (GIS Coordinator, Robbyn Abbitt, abbittrj@miamioh.edu)
Occasionally significant patches are required and we are informed by ESRI directly and given the patch install files.
When this occurs, the GIS Coordinator will reach out to organization members to alert them to this issue.
