Doing my research, I gained the competencies of communication, critical thinking, and equity and inclusion.
Communication - In doing my research and writing my thesis I had to learn to communicate the information and my own thoughts and ideas in a way that was easy to understand for people who were unfamiliar with the topic. This was also a new type of paper writing for me so I had to learn how to write a long paper and to properly communicate my analysis.
Critical Thinking - Critical thinking was an important skill for my thesis, as I was analyzing several documents and testimonies. I had to analyze large amounts of data and break everything down to make sense and to use in my paper. I also had to think strategically for my final section, as I had to analyze the information given and explain what I thought it might mean for the future of North Korea
Equity and Inclusion - Equity and inclusion played an important part in my essay since I was researching and writing about another country and culture. Writing my thesis, I had to do in-depth research on North Korean culture and history.
