This research project first and foremost was a way for me to learn. My topic is something I have always been drawn to, and was curious to know more and go deeper. It also ties directly into what I want to do as part of my future career. My plan is that this research can be a starting point for research I can continue at the masters level.
Throughout my work on this project, I developed a sense of professionalism. Each week, I met with my advising professor, and I dedicated many hours to learning about archaeological theory before I began the extensive research, where I looked at hundreds of vessels. I learned quickly that I needed to come extra prepared for each discussion if I wanted to stay on top of my tasks.
Technology was a key component to my project. I had to adapt to learning a new way of researching, and I had to trouble-shoot and teach myself how to navigate the database, which I was unfamiliar with. Additionally, I used other technologies new to me such as the chi-squares, allowing me much greater efficiency in calculating patterns and probability.
