MIAD students, faculty, staff, and alumni have access to the SWITCH Library Consorrium's member institutions through the TOPCAT library catalog. Materials can be requested from any of our SWITCH partners, and are typically delivered by the following day during the week, Monday - Friday.
We also offer some limited lending opportunities through non-SWITCH partner schools. These requests typically arrive within 3 business days.
Student clerks and Library staff provide weekly book displays featuring some of their favorite items from the MIAD collections. These books are available for checkout, so don't be afraid to take one!
The MIAD Library is also pleased to curate a selection of materials to celebrate Heritage months, or that support the content of current gallery shows or other happenings on the MIAD campus.
Library materials may be dropped off at any time using the secure book drop located to the right of the Library doors. Materials may also be dropped off during Library hours at the Circulation desk. Materials that have been returned after Library hours will be checked in when the Library is next open. For your convenience, you will receive an email indicating the returned status of your Library materials once they have been checked in.
Each semester, the MIAD Library obtains and makes available copies of the required texts for each class. A list of available course reserves can be accessed through TOPCAT using this link. Course Reserves may be accessed at the Circulation Desk. Loan periods for materials on Reserve status are typically 2-hour, 4-hour, 1-day, or 2-days.
MIAD students, faculty, and staff may borrow books that are unavailable through SWITCH or lending agreement partners using our Info-Pass service. Info-Passes are processed by Library staff only and are subject to specific conditions. Ask Library staff for more information. - Not currently available 2025.
Faculty wishing to schedule an information literacy or library instruction session are welcome to do so--the earlier that Library staff now, the easier it is for us to accommodate your request. To schedule an instructional or information literacy session, please email the Library staff.
We also welcome the use of the Library space for independent class research time. Drop-in class visits are welcome, but scheduling in advance with Library staff is preferred to ensure staff availability and space.
All faculty, staff, and students may make requests or suggestions for additions to the MIAD library collection. Suggestions may be submitted to Nancy Siker at nancysiker@miad.edu.
