How to use a database
To access databases via the web (either on campus or away from MIAD), start at the TOPCAT library catalog homepage and locate the Databases tile on the left-hand side of the screen. Select the database you'd like to search, and you're all set! Off-campus access will require you to enter your MIAD OneLogin information.
From business and politics to literature, psychology and the arts, ProQuest Research Library provides one-stop access to a wide range of popular academic subjects. The database includes more than 3,820 journal titles—over 2,550 in full text—from 1971 forward. It features a diversified mix of scholarly journals, trade publications, magazines, and newspapers.
EBSCOhost Web is actually a large group of databases covering academic, business, health and medical, news, and government topics. Users can choose individual databases, or may search multiple databases simultaneously. Much of the content is full-text, with articles dating from as early as the 1980’s. New articles are added daily.
Please note that you can search both EBSCOhost Art Full Text and Science Full Text all at once in Badgerlink EBSCOhost or you can search them separately.
The online version of Art Index, this database offers articles and citations from more than 600 major art and design periodicals as far back as 1984. Every citation includes an in-depth abstract, and full-text articles are provided for 270 journals dating back to 1997. Coverage includes fine, decorative and commercial arts and is international in scope. MIAD owns the back issues of many periodicals that are indexed by Art Full Text, giving students access to specific articles in our periodicals stacks.
This database combines the full-text content of all the Wilson science databases including Applied Science & Technology Full Text, Biological & Agricultural Index Plus, and General Science Full Text, plus science content from other Wilson databases. Articles from over 400 journals, going back as far as 1994 are included. The database also provides an abundance of graphical content--charts, diagrams, and illustrations--in PDF page images.
Provides more than two million digital images and associated data in the arts, architecture, humanities, and sciences. The high-quality images are “zoomable,” allowing the user to focus closely on specific details; two images may be viewed side-by-side. Images can be saved online or offline, or can be imported directly into PowerPoint. In addition to images, Quick Time Virtual Reality panoramas of important architectural sites are also available.

It contains the full text of the 34-volume Grove’s Dictionary of Art, the Concise Oxford Dictionary of Art Terms, the Encyclopedia of Aesthetics and Oxford Dictionary of Art Terms, and the Oxford Companion to Western Art. Many articles are enhanced with full-color images and line drawings; image links are provided to the Art Resource searchable image database and to numerous museum and gallery websites. This database is updated regularly.
