ROMAN WEB QUEST
DIRECTIONS:
You will read and complete each assigned task over the next few weeks to discover all you can about Ancient Rome. At the end of each task, you will be asked to complete a product as part of the quest.
PROCESS:
1. The information that you find will be recorded via the Google Drive. Make sure when you open a document, you make a copy of it, change the name to your first and last name, and then share it with me sfry@mhs.org
2. The web resources for your web quest are linked to each task.
Task 1- Romulus and Remus
Watch this video on Romulus and Remus. Take this true/false quiz about the video and the legend.
Task 2- Gladiators
Open up the Gladiator document and make a copy of it. Change the document’s name to your name. Follow the links to help you answer questions and understand what being a Roman gladiator really was like. When you are finished, change the name to your name and share it with sfry@mhs.org
Task 3- Roman Army
Go to this site to help you learn about the Roman army. Follow the links, watch the videos, explore! Then, open Roman Army document, make a copy, change name, answer questions, and share with sfry@mhs.org
Project 1- Soldier's Diary
Write a diary entry as a Roman soldier. Be sure to include the soldier's rank and details about his days / battles. You need at least 3 different entries/ dates! Use the above links and open up the document, copy it, change the name, and share with sfry@mhs.org.
Task 4- Daily Life
To understand what family life was like in Ancient Rome, go to the following link and read through the information about families and children in Ancient Rome on the website. Watch the videos, take the quiz, look at all the fun facts.

Project 2- Roman Meal
Create a one page menu for your guests using food that would be eaten if you lived in Ancient Rome. Use the following links to help you find out what to eat! Remember, not everyone ate together, or ate the same types of foods.
Task 5-Roman fashion
Go to these websites to learn about the different styles Romans wore. Open up the document on Style in Ancient Rome, make a copy, change name, complete, share with sfry@mhs.org
Project 3
Dress a doll in the style of a Roman boy, girl, woman, or man. Be sure to include labels for each style of dress. It needs to be historically accurate.
Task 6- Roman Architecture
The Romans were great builders. They actually invented cement which helped them build all of their roads and aqueducts. Click the following links to learn about Roman Architecture

Task 7- Roman Religion
The Romans started out worshipping the Greek Gods, but changed their names. Eventually, Christianity begin in Rome.

Task 8- Roman Emperors
The Romans had many famous emperors. Open up the Roman Emperors document, make a copy, change the name, complete, and share with sfry@mhs.org
Project 4- Roman Coins
Choose one of the five "good emperors" you just finished researching to create a postage stamp and design a coin to commemorate that leader. Use the facts about your emperor in a creative way in your design. Use the web link
to view actual coins depicting Roman Rulers. Draw your coin with this document. Open it and print it out to begin sketching.
Task 9- Teenage Life in Ancient Rome
Watch this video, "A Glimpse of Teenage Life in Ancient Rome." Then, complete this 321 Worksheet.
Task 10 - Wrap-up
Select the aspect that you thought was the most interesting about the ancient Romans. Open up a new document on Google Drive and write a well-written paragraph explaining why you selected that aspect. Make sure you give specific examples to support your selection. Share it with sfry@mhs.org
Project 5- Comic Strip
You have been commissioned by the Roman Daily News to create a comic strip that illustrates some aspect of the Roman empire. Select the aspect you thought was most interesting and make a comic strip. Here is the template.
