The Morris Hills Regional Orchestra Program is comprised of three ensembles, under the direction of Mr. Brett Izsa. The ensembles include the Morris Hills Regional String Ensemble (MHRSE), the Morris Hills Regional Chamber Orchestra (MHRCO), and coming soon, the Morris Hills Regional Symphony Orchestra (MHRSO).
The Morris Hills Regional String Ensemble is our curricular ensemble, meeting during the school day, and open to general enrollment from the student body. This ensemble encompasses students from all skill levels. MHRSE includes those who have been playing their instrument for several years, to brand new interested students. The string ensemble is for string instruments only and focuses on intermediate repertoire for building skills as a violin, viola, cello, or bass player.
The Morris Hills Regional Chamber Orchestra is an auditioned ensemble meeting once a week in the evenings. The Chamber Orchestra is one of the area's advanced ensembles, playing classic repertoire from the orchestral canon. The MHRCO can often be seen at events throughout the school and community and provides an advanced opportunity for winds, brass, percussion, and string students seeking to advance their skills.
The Morris Hills Regional Symphony Orchestra is the district's recently conceptualized ensemble. Modeled after the great orchestras of the world, the MHRDSO is a full-scale symphony orchestra, playing classic literature from the symphonic canon, through modern compositions, such as film classics, and dance suites. Auditioned from throughout the school district, this ensemble includes all wind, brass, percussion, and string instruments, and often collaborates with the choral department.
