In this unit, students will continue to build on their learning from Grade 7. In grade 7 they learn how Imperialist Europe spread around the world, connecting the old world to the new world. In Grade 8 students will learn how European countries went from competing with each other over Europe to competing for the world! They will start by learning how Europe developed from the dark age, to the middle age, and eventually to the Renaissance. Through the lens of worldview, students will discover the change in society, religion, theology, art, and exploration.
"This unit helps you investigate these questions.
What was the Renaissance?
Why- and how - did the Renaissance worldview spread from beyond the borders of Europe?
Why did the Renaissance worldview have such a long-lasting influence on other countries and cultures?
Why did the European rather than the Aboriginal worldview become the dominant way of looking at things in American continents?"
