Mt. Horeb has a long and proud tradition of participating in WSMA Honors groups. We've had tremendous success with students auditioning into these top-tier ensembles.
These are the most prestigious honors groups in Wisconsin, and the auditions are the most demanding of any auditioned group. Selected students spend time in rehearsal and performance with nationally-recognized conductors and teachers.
The time commitment for both auditions and participants is substantial. The Mt. Horeb Music Boosters and the Mt. Horeb Area School District offer scholarship money toward participation.
To earn a spot in honors band or orchestra, keep in mind the following:
You need to raise your overall base level of skill
You are competing against somebody else (who wants it more?)
Deadline
Registration for HS honors closes at 11:59 p.m. on Friday, December 6, 2024. Late registrations will not be accepted.

Hi Kellen!
I hope that your school year is going well. Things here in the UW-Platteville band program are bustling and we're hoping you will consider nominating some of your top high school band students for our 2025 Tri-State Honors Band which will be held on February 14-15. Here is a link to the page, which includes the schedule of events, information about this year's clinician (William Owens), Director's Registration Form, Student Nomination Form and Student Registration and fee information:

We will accept a minimum of 2 students from every school but feel free to nominate as many as you see fit and we'll take as many as we can. Completed student nominations are due by January 10th. I hope you/your students will be able to participate!
Regards,
----------

The Mt. Horeb Music Boosters offer scholarships for Summer Camps and Private Lessons. Look for links to the applications on their website.
Many students in Mt. Horeb study privately during the summer and the school year. Private lessons pair students with a professional musician to help students learn to perform at a much higher level. Scholarships are available for these lessons as well!

Black Star Drum line is a Madison-based group of students who perform around the area (if you've been to a street festival somewhere in Madison, you've probably seen them).
