Google My Maps allows you to create a collaborative map with different layers, pins, content. Change the map types to see your data in different ways.

Google Maps is the maps we are typically used to (street view, directions).

Google Earth - see the world from Satellite view or street view, create virtual field trips/ collaborative projects. Similar to Google My Maps, but more visual and better for story telling.
