James Madison was an American statesman, diplomat, expansionist, philosopher, and Founding Father who was the 4th president of the United States from 1809 to 1817. He was close friends with Thomas Jefferson and even oversaw the louisiana purchase, that is one of the many things that he did to influence our lives today. He was struck thru conflict during the war of 1812

Early life:
He was born in Virginia, on March 16, 1751. He started local, becoming a member of the orange county committee.
He then became a Virginia state legislature, went to princeton university. He was also credited to draft the bill of rights and helped with the federalist papers. Some of his work that is still relevant today, such as he had the idea of three house government, and his wife Dolley Madison was very influential and the reason why he did not go down as some random person, she also saved all his influential documents and raised money for the Washington Monument, as well as supporting orphans.
Political Life:
He was a president and secretary of state
Representative in virginia, and also a member of the continental congress .
Signed and negotiated the bill of rights.
Final Years:
Four months after a peace agreement was negotiated, the war officially came to an end with the ratification of the Treaty of Ghent (February 1815) After serving two terms, Madison retired to Montpelier in 1817. In his final years, Madison continued to rely on enslaved labor for his plantation.
