George Washington was the first president of The United States of America, Commander-in-Chief of the Revolutionary Army, and a Founding Father.
George Washington became a Commander in Chief on June 19, 1775, which is 14 years before he became President.
After 2 terms of presidency, 8 years in total, Washington retired to his beloved Mount Vernon, where he lived the remainder of his life.
George Washington had no biological children, but had 2 step-children, from his wife, Martha Washington's previous marriage.
At Mount Vernon, Washington owned about 300 slaves. Washington instructed his slaves to be released after his wife's death, after the war he saw how the slaves really felt . He sympathized them and decided that after his wife died they could be free.
The first person George Washington loved was his best friend's (George Fairfax) wife, Sally Fairfax.
George Washington loved animals. He bred mules and owned many breeds of dogs. He owned Dalmatians, English foxhounds, French hounds, Greyhounds, Italian Greyhounds, mastiffs, Newfoundlands, pointers, spaniels and even terriers!
George Washington had horrible teeth. He came from a line of horrible family teeth, and he didn't brush his teeth back then. He eventually cracked almost all of his teeth ,eating walnuts. George loved eating walnuts, so he had multiple pairs of dentures. His dentures were made of animal teeth, ivory , and slave teeth that were forcefully removed from his slaves.
