Psychology

Course Description

This course is an introduction to the scientific study of behavior and mental processes. Psychology is all about studying the human mind and behavior so we can figure out why people think, feel, and do what they do. Psychologists are continually asking questions, developing theories, and conducting experiments so they can better understand human nature and improve our lives. In this course we will look at a number of topics including developmental psychology through the cycle of life. We will also be studying how we learn and think. Students will also have a number of opportunities to explore topics of interest to them through different research projects. These topics and more will be explored in a student-centered classroom setting.

Students will be expected to work cooperatively in small groups in order to gain knowledge and complete activities. Students will also be expected to participate in class discussions, and research based projects. There will be a large emphasis on literacy skills, and written assignments will be incorporated into nearly every lesson.
