Donate To Your Mountain Lion Fund!
What is Parents Club?
The Parents Club is a 100% volunteer operated organization. Every Monte Gardens student family is automatically a member! Each year, Parents Club coordinates a number of events to promote community spirit and raise much-needed funding to support our students and entire community. We welcome your participation and ideas.
Parent volunteers are an essential and valued part of Monte Gardens. The Monte Gardens Parents Club, the principal, and your child’s teacher rely on the generous support of parents to provide classroom support, to help with community events, to participate in fundraising (via Mountain Lion Fund donations), and to serve on school committees.
Why should I donate to the Mountain Lion Fund?
Your Parents Club kindly suggests a donation while at Bonanza to the Mountain Lion Fund. These contributions directly supports your student(s) and our overall school community with programs and services that our children participate in and benefit from. Including, but not limited to, our weekly school youth counselor, noonday supervisors, in-classroom materials, teacher support, and more!
Regardless of your ability to donate money or contribute time (recommendation of 20 volunteer hours per school year), please know that the entire school community stands behind you and supports you in your achievements and challenges. Every positive effort, big or small, makes a meaningful difference, and we appreciate the commitment and care you invest in the well-being of the school and its children. You're all doing a fantastic job - thank you!
See our dedicated page for more details and also check out the MDUSD site for more information.
Throughout the school year, communication will be sent in varying ways; including, but not limited to, paper communication (Monday envelope), email (Parent Square and Konstella), SMS messaging (Remind). Konstella is the classroom connection for in-class volunteer opportunities, teacher announcements, schoolwide updates, and more. Ensure that you have downloaded the app (iPhone | Android), registered for Monte Gardens using invitation code cKWgQC, and assigned your child(ren) to their classroom(s).
What time does my child need to be at school?
Students should be lined up with their classmates in their respective class lines on the back blacktop by 8:10 am. For more detailed schedule information, please review the bell schedule provided to you.
Can my child bring a backpack to school?
This depends on the grade. In either case, please be sure the bag and everything in it is properly labeled with your student's first name, last name, and your phone number.
- Grades K-2 are to bring a tote bag containing their school items.
- Grades 3-5 may bring a backpack containing their school items.
What if my child is sick?
If your child is sick and cannot attend school, please call in their absence daily (unless otherwise instructed by the office staff) to the recorded absence line at 925-682-8000 #4469. While your HomeLink account will provide a summary of your child's absences, it may not immediately reflect "excused" absences. You can find a list of State Board of Education allowable absence reasons in the Student/Parent Handbook on the Monte Gardens website.
Do not send you child to school until they have been unmedicated and symptom-free for a full day (24 hours) before returning. Symptoms to be clear of include, but are not limited to, fever, diarrhea, or vomiting . For your child’s safety and the well-being of others, it's essential to follow these guidelines.
Your contact phone number on HomeLink must be one you will answer during the school day. Reaching you promptly to coordinate immediate pick-up is crucial should your child become ill. We also require an alternate pick-up person on your contact list in HomeLink should the primary be unavailable. A picture ID and verification of your approved pick-up person will be required.
What if my child is tardy?
Any student arriving after the 8:13 am bell is considered tardy. Arrivals between 8:13-8:19 am may proceed directly to class but will be marked tardy. Any student arriving after 8:20 am must stop in the school office for a tardy slip.
What if I need to pick up my child early?
Students picked up prior to dismissal time must be signed out at the school office by a parent or legal guardian. Please allow a minimum of 15 minutes for the school to retrieve your child upon arrival. If the early pick-up is due to an appointment, a provider's note must be presented to the school secretary within 72 hours to excuse the early dismissal.
What if my child lost a belonging or forgot their lunch?
We totally get it! For forgotten and/or misplaced items, please check out the below:
Labeled lunches and water bottles can be left in the crate provided in the doorway of the Multi Use Room for your child to retrieve at break.
Throughout the school year, we have a lost + found cart with misplaced belongings that parents are able to sort through and reunite with their child's items. Please accordingly label all of your student's school items and clothing with their first name, last name, and your phone number. We appreciate your help!
Am I able to come onto campus (past the gates)?
All campus visitors must check in to the office to sign-in and receive a visitor badge. Parents may not enter a classroom unless they are scheduled to volunteer in class or with the Principal’s permission. Thank you for your help and cooperation!
