What is a Makerspace?
A makerspace is a space designed and dedicated to hands on creativity. We are building, coding, crafting, and designing.
At MGMS, we have incorporated a Makerspace in our library where 5-8th graders can create, collaborate, problem solve and tinker. Students try to solve puzzles and clues using Breakout Boxes or create projects using Legos, K'nex, Pix Brix and other building materials. They can create digitially with a variety of online tools and websites. Students can also design products using our scrapbooking materials, origami paper, cardboard, craft materials, and Cricut machine.
5th and 6th grade students will have opportunities throughout the year during their library time to experience different makerspace activities.
7th and 8th grade students have the opportunity to participate in a makerspace elective class each semester
