Craig Pond, 5th Grade Teacher
"MFGS is in great need of a larger playground that is appropriate for the older students. We have a nice playground, however, it is not sized for the older kids. We are currently playing in the empty field north of the school and there is only so much the students can do there. There is no place to play basketball, four-square, swing, slide, or many other activities they enjoy. They do an amazing job playing football, wiffle ball or other similar games, but their options are very limited otherwise. This new playground will provide more activities to better suit a larger range of interests of the older students at MFGS!”

“A new playground will be amazing for all of the students but especially the older elementary students. The current playground equipment is all geared toward younger children besides maybe the swings. The majority of the 4th and 5th graders would rather play in the grassy field over the current playground, however there is not enough supervision at lunch recess to allow for students to play on the playground and in the field. I think a new playground would help resolve all of these issues! ”

“ Play is how kids learn to socialize! A lot of learning happens outside, and outdoor play helps create an active lifestyle for years to come!"
