This is an introductory class required to be taken by every incoming freshman at Maryville College. Our was a little bit special as it was specifically for the McGill Scholars. My class was taught by Dr. Dan Ross who is now my advisor.
This class was focused on teaching us leadership traits/debate techniques and worked mainly through the book Dare to Lead by Brene Brown.
I learned a lot about Vulnerability in this class. I think what I enjoyed most was the Debate at the end. Not only did it provide fun competition but allowed us to dive into the leadership material we had just learned and even put some of it into practice.
It better equipped me for all of the core requirements from Maryville. It was nice to have a faculty member there at our disposal to help us along for the first year. For example walking us through the career fair and our first advising meetings and academic plans.
