1. Basic usage

Find your location in Tokyo on the digital map

When the app starts up, the map will open, and your location and the closest station will appear.

When you are far from Tokyo, Tokyo Station will be at the centre of the map.

To zoom out, spread your fingers apart on the desired location. Place two fingers together on the location to zoom in.

To go back to your current position on the map, just tap the GPS button on the right-hand side at the bottom; the screen will show where you are again.

2. To reach an entrance at the ground level

Station marks on the map tells the location of entrance at the ground level to ticket gate at the underground level.

By touching a station mark, you will find the line, station name, pinned entrance, and accessible lines from the entrance. To close the window, tap the ‘close’ mark at the top of the window and scroll on or tap the map.

3. Transfer to other lines

When transferring trains, press the right button on the window on the map. This will indicate whether you need to go through the ticket gate and whether you should go to the ground level or stay underground for the next line. (An explanation of the transfer information is located below.)

4. Glossary of transfer page

The ‘Transfer’ page consists of the following directions:

  • The top station mark: the line and station information you’ll need
    • If a station has several transfer lines, the lines and their station names (at a maximum of five) are shown beneath it.

Each transfer line has two lines on the right side:

  • Upper information: the ticket gate information
    • Go-through: You must go through the ticket gate to transfer to the line and station shown on the left.
    • Stay inside: You don’t need to go through the ticket gate to transfer to the line shown on the left.
  • Lower information: directions to the next platform/station to transfer
    • Change platforms: You must walk a short distance to reach a platform/station to transfer; this sometimes requires going up/down stairs.
    • Underground connection: You must take a relatively long walk to reach a platform/station to transfer.
    • Transfer at the ground level: you need to go to the ground level to transfer.
    • Via a direct transfer gate: There is a direct transfer gate between two lines; you can move to a station to transfer easily through this gate.
