A college search takes both self-reflection and research.
Begin the process by thinking about your vision for higher education. You can use this self-assessment to think about what's important to you in a college.
Once you have a sense of your ideal post-secondary environment, start searching for colleges that align with your vision by using online college search tools, attending college fairs, and visiting college campuses
An ideal college list will include a variety of schools that are a good match for you. Be sure you have likely, target and reach schools on your list.
Likely= A school where the student's chance of admittance, based on GPA and standardized testing scores, is very high. A college is considered a likely school if your admissions test scores fall above the 75th percentile for students enrolled at the college.
Target= A school in which your academic credentials make you competitive for admission. You have a very reasonable chance of gaining admission to a target school, but there are no guarantees.
Reach= Reach schools admit very few students or have requirements you may not meet. It’s called a reach college because it’ll be a lot of hard work to create a strong application
