Free Music notation software takes a little time to learn, but helps you write your own music, or write down music you've learned by ear. You can save, edit, print, and share as often as you'd like. There are several free versions of music notation software including Noteflight and MuseScore.
You can print out blank staff paper, or buy it online or in music stores (often called manuscript paper). Make sure you start slow and neat, and compare your work with sheet music you already have.
The Methuen 6-8 jazz band is an auditioned ensemble that rehearses after school on Wednesdays. The instrumentation includes saxophone, trumpet, trombone, piano, guitar, and bass.
Players are introduced to new styles of music and advance their instrumental technique and musical knowledge while performing high level music.
This is an additional playing and performance opportunity for 6th-8th grade band students. Students play high-level music with dedicated students from many local middle school band programs, college musicians as coaches, and a UMass Lowell professor of music as director, Deb Huber. The ensemble rehearses Monday evenings from January until the concert in early May.

The UMass Lowell Mary Jo Leahey Symphonic Band Camp is an incredible and unique opportunity for 8th-12th grade band students. SBC is a residential band camp where students stay on UMass Lowell's campus for one week in July, and study, rehearse, and perform in the UML music department.
The students learn from UML professors of music, and perform alongside section coaches including local music teachers and college music students. They also expand their knowledge with music theory classes, small ensembles, and interesting electives like conducting, writing and arranging music, sound recording technology, and more.
