Counseling Core Curriculum

Developmental lessons may look a little different this year as they will be virtual while we are learning from home and in person once we return to school. Parents will receive an informative letter about the topics and how you can reinforce the social/emotional skills at home. Grade level topics include:

Kindergarten - Respecting Myself and Others

Students will be introduced to several puppet friends who help them learn about making new friends, appreciating differences, and expressing feelings. In addition, Kindergarten students will begin learning about personal safety.

First Grade - Making S'More Friends, A Camping Adventure

In first grade there is an emphasis on making and keeping friends. Children will go on a camping adventure in their classroom. Sitting around the campfire, the students will learn to appreciate differences, express their feelings to friends, and solve friendship problems.

Second Grade - We Can Work It Out!

Developmental lessons begin by focusing on embracing all kids of friends. Skills and strategies are taught to help students initiate friendships and solve conflicts among friends. Personal safety is also revisited.
