6th grade English

This year you'll have a wonderful opportunity to strengthen your grammar skills and writing as you have separate English and reading classes for the first time. We'll dive into the following units in grammar and writing:

Grammar

• Capitalization

• Punctuation

• Sentences

• Verbs

• Subject-Verb Agreement

• Pronouns

Writing

• Snapshot (from a personal narrative)

• Argumentative

• Informative

• Poetry

Our daily activities will include vocabulary builders, a mini-lesson and practice, journal writing, and mentor texts. You should be prepared for class with a fully charged Chromebook, a folder, a composition notebook (your choice of style), and sharpened pencils. I can't wait to help you build your writer's notebook!
