Welcome Letter

Dear 2nd Grade Family,

Welcome to Second Grade! I hope you are having a fantastic summer. Are you ready for a great school year? I am looking forward to teaching your child this year. There are a few details that I would like to share with you before the year begins. It would be helpful if you send your child to school with a few basic supplies (please label everything with your child’s name):

-reusable water bottle

-earbuds/small headphones (whatever is comfortable)

-school bag

-smock for Art (old t-shirt is fine, send in Ziploc bag labeled w/name)

-extra pencils and erasers

The following items are optional. Any donations will be most appreciated:

-tissues

-Ziplock baggies (small and large)

-hand soap

-Clorox wipes

-antibacterial lotion

There is not room in the desks for supply boxes, so please do not send them to school. We will provide your child with all other necessary supplies as well as a homework folder. The homework folder will come back and forth every day with important papers, homework assignments, etc. Please check your child’s folder each night and make it their responsibility to return it to school every day.

Please write your child’s name, 2T, and their transportation home (bus #, car, daycare name) on the name tag enclosed. This will help our staff get your child to the classroom in the morning and to the correct place for dismissal.

If you have any questions or concerns before the first day, you can e-mail me at DTornetta@methacton.org. Please plan to attend our Back to School Night on September 19th to learn more about our classroom. Make sure that your child gets plenty of rest before our first day together on Wednesday, August 28. Enjoy the rest of your summer:)

Sincerely,

Dana Tornetta
