Welcome! My name is Mrs. Wargo and I am a Pre-K teacher here at Thomas Metcalf School. This is year eight at Metcalf and I am very excited to start our journey. My past experience consists of teaching Pre-K and co-directing a learning center.
Building a connection with the students and parents is an important component in the early childhood field. This allows us to build a great team and move forward with success. This also allows the child to have a positive mindset about school and moving forward.
I am very honored to be involved in your educational decision. I look forward to providing and creating an environment that you and your child enjoy being involved in!

In our Pre-K program, Skills Builder will complement the learning experiences we already provide throughout the day. Rather than being something separate, these skills can be woven into our play, classroom routines, literacy and math experiences, problem solving, peer interactions, small groups, and social-emotional learning. Our goal is to help children begin developing the confidence, independence, communication skills, flexibility, creativity, and ability to work with others that will support them not only as they transition to Kindergarten, but throughout school and beyond.
The framework focuses on eight essential skills, organized into four areas:
Communication: Listening & Speaking
Creative Problem Solving: Problem Solving & Creativity
Self-Management: Adapting & Planning
Collaboration: Leadership & Teamwork
We are excited to give our students a common language for these skills and help them recognize something very important: these are skills we can learn, practice, and grow!
