Aligning Oregon's 2+1 Math Pathways with College Admissions and Courses
The Dana Center, funded by the Oregon Department of Education, is guiding conversations about updating college and university math requirements.
Key information:
The Math Course Alignment Project will support a partnership with ODE and the Oregon Higher Education Coordinating Commission to align high school math pathways with gateway courses in college
The project team will also work with Oregon higher education admission leaders to rethink required math courses at the high school level

Phase 1: Admissions Work
Outcomes:
Convene public university, community college, & K-12 representatives to identify issues & propose solutions
Proposed updates to the admission requirements by Fall 2022 for review by universities
Potential update in Jan/Feb 2023 to the course catalog FY 2024-25
On December 14th, 2022 the provost of all Oregon public higher education institutions agreed to the following language.
Phase 2: Alignment Work
Contract Period - June 2022 - June 2023
Start work: Summer 2022
End work: June 30, 2023
Tasks:
Convene IHE/K-12 workgroups to identify elements to facilitate communication of course content
Outcomes:
Agreed elements used to guide work in Mathways, common core number, and other activities where course content is identified.
Recommendations for short and long term storage of course content
Revise and update “plus one guidance” document
