Welcome to Music 7!
In 7th grade general music, students learn about many aspects of music theory, music history, careers in the music industry and music technology. While any one of these topics could be studied for years, this class provides an overview on each topic and hopefully will inspire you to further pursue your studies in the area of music.
Policies and Procedures
Entering the Classroom: Each day, you will come to class with a charged Chromebook, notebook and writing implement. When you arrive, find your assigned seat, and begin working on your do now.
Behavior: The class rules are posted in the front of the room. Each student will receive two warnings before a consequence is issued. Consequences include phone call home and/or lunch detention. Each class will work to earn checks which can be redeemed for rewards such as preferential seating or choice of music during work time.
Classroom materials: Chromebook, notebook, writing implement and headphones (ear-bud style).
Google Classroom: Each student will be responsible for logging onto Google classroom at the beginning of each class.
Grading: Students will be given a grade in music, based on the following items:
Participation: Students will receive a daily participation grade. Students will not lose any points if they are actively engaging in class. This includes asking and answering questions, as well as helping a classmate that might need assistance.
Preparedness: Students will receive a daily grade based on whether or not they come prepared with classroom materials and are ready to work. There may be times that you are asked to research a topic covered in class to help facilitate the class conversation. This is also part of your preparedness grade.
Quizzes: Quizzes will be given periodically, but always announced at least 2 days in advance. All students will receive a study guide to prepare for each quiz.
Classwork: Students will be given daily classwork, which will be submitted on Google Classroom for a grade. Students will need to finish any classwork they do not complete in class as homework.
