Matthew Shephard empowers educators and inspires students to realize their full potential—no matter the size of their school or community. With a deep understanding of the challenges and strengths of small and rural schools, Matthew combines motivational storytelling with practical frameworks that renew passion, strengthen school culture, and spark lasting growth. Matthew’s presentations are immediately applicable — giving staff tools to strengthen relationships, boost student engagement, and elevate outcomes.

Through dynamic storytelling, practical insight, and heartfelt connection, Matthew helps educators see their vital role in shaping tomorrow’s leaders and reminds every student that big dreams can begin anywhere. His message is clear: when educators are inspired, students thrive—and when small schools dream big, they can change the world.

Matthew is also available as a speaker, clinician, adjudicator and conductor for your concert bands. Mr. Shephard is experienced with all abilities and age ranges, having served as an Honors Band conductor for many Middle School and High School ensembles over the last two decades.  

In addition, Mr. Shephard is also an accomplished jazz artist and educator, having directed honors jazz ensembles across the Midwest.
