About Me

While this is my fifth year teaching at Meridian, I have been teaching for 26 years, most of those years at Western Illinois University teaching Composition. I graduated with a B.A. in English Secondary Education from Millikin University and earned a M.A. in Composition Pedagogy from Western Illinois University. 

One of the most important parts of my life is family. I grew up on a farm in Table Grove, Illinois, and the heart of any farm is family and family traditions. My mom is retired from farm life but still lives in Table Grove. I have one brother, who is the Director of Technology at Illini Central in Mason City, IL. He and his wife have three amazing children: Hannah, Gage, and Cole.

I also LOVE to travel. There's just something about the thrill of adventure that helps us grow. My favorite place, to visit so far, is Edinburgh, Scotland. I hope to go back some day and hike the Highlands with my closest friends. 

I absolutely love sports. If I have the TV on, it is some kind of sporting event or sports news. My favorite teams are the Pittsburgh Steelers, the St. Louis Cardinals, and the Meridian Hawks.
