Hello! My name is Ms. Christy Wherley. I have been teaching at MHS for six years, and in the almost 30 years I've been teaching, student-centered learning has always been the focus of my teaching philosophy. It is my belief that students learn more effectively when they are doing the thinking themselves rather than simply repeating notes from the board. I want my students to be invested in their learning. This happens when students are involved in creating a positive learning environment that allows them the opportunity to get feedback and ask questions without judgment and to work alongside a teacher who cares deeply about their success. As their teacher, it is my top priority to help students grow not only in skill but also in confidence, in ways they have never done before.
This year I am teaching Honors English II, Honors English III, ENGL 101/102 (Dual Credit), and Transitional English IV.
